Creating One of a Kind Works of Art...

After creating an original work of art for my friend Sarah, I've gotten several requests to make personal paintings of childhood homes.

Most recently, I painted the family home of my friend Beth.  This house is located in Kentucky and belonged to her grandparents and is near and dear to her mom, aunts, and uncles who remember living in that house.  The house is now in a state of disrepair having been sold and uninhabited for many years, but in listening to Beth describe it, I'm convinced that the memories are keeping it alive and well in the hearts of those who knew it best.

I have enjoyed the experiences in creating personalized artwork so much that I am now opening up requests to all!

Home is Wherever I'm With You

Do you ever meet someone who makes you pause so that you can take them in?  I have a teacher-friend, Sarah, at the school where I work who has such a beautiful and regal soul (that and she's gorgeous to boot).

Anyway, since moving classroom locations, she has become my neighbor across the hall.  We visit, drink tons of coffee, whine, laugh, and at times - just plain survive.

Sarah's a fellow vintage lover and appreciates the history of all things antique.

For Christmas this year, she wants to surprise her mom with a painting of their house in Texas.  This year, her family will be moving and Sarah wants something that her mom can take with her as she moves into a new chapter of her life.

The house is an old beauty that graces one of the historic districts in the town where she's from.
When Sarah talks about this house, I can feel the warmth of this home in her words and that has been my constant meditation while working on this project.

It's nearly done- just a few more details and it's ready to make it's way... well home right?

Wherever this painting travels and whatever future walls it graces, I hope it brings back the memories that make Sarah's words about it so sweet, so loved, and so very cherished.
